Alright everyone, it seems that the Class of 96 is terrible at event planning and coordination. No doubt a common theme from our days at BHS.

I know this is not going to sound like any fun to everyone, but I suggest that the class of 96 hold off on its reunion until next year, when we can have more people involved. Not only will more people in the planning help, but more time will help everyone get their travel plans straight and possibly do some fund raising work.

And think about it, we can have the first Eleven Year Reunion in history.

Now, realize this doesn't mean we should stop planning for the reunion, but we should push our dates back until next year.

All in favor of moving the reunion to 2007, say AYE, all opposed say NEY.

Let's thank Nicole and all those who have called or helped in anyway for the work they've put in.

Thanks
JEREMIE

NEY

If we cant get it together for the ten year maybe we'll have our collective act together for the 15. I'm not making a special trip for an 11-year procrastinators reunion. At the most I may come to my brother's class of 97 reunion as a guest. I'll just continue to post when I'm in town and try to link up with as many people as I can, reunion or otherwise. The site is a great idea and it got the ball rolling but instead of hitting a speedbump, it looks like we hit a wall. Oh well

Ney,

However, if we do send money and a reunion is not planned will that carry over until 2007? A 2006-2007 joint reunion?
I think Nicole said we could send $20 as a down payment, instead of the full $100 since a date was not selected.

Ney. I suggest that we postpone the date for later this year to allow more people to get involved and be able to attend. but it should be for a 10 yr reunion, not 11th yr (although it would be cool to go down in history if we would be the first class to have an 11th yr reunion)

Ney. I have to agree with Kim. And can we include a football game? Whats a reunion without one of those? This postponement should allow the football schedule to come out in time for us to include a game. Then maybe we can do the picnic thing on Saturday, and the evening event Saturday night. And for anyone who has to travel Friday night, they won't be missing the main event. What does everyone else think about that?

I'll be on the sidelines covering the VT football team this year. The October date worked great for me because the team is playing on a Thursday night that week. Aside from that weekend, the only other times I could make it would be during a bye week. I'll still try to come down when/if ever it goes down.

I am with the consensus (forgive me for spelling)...we do not need to postpone the date. We can sacrifice money for anything else that we really want to attend but we could not get it together for the reunion....it just seems like everyone has been dragging their feet. I was really looking forward to seeing everyone though.

Wow, I was completely off base with that suggestion. If we continue to plan for the 10 year reunion to happen in the 2006 calendar year, then we are going to need more people to become more involved. This cannot be just a small group effort. Nicole, I think you should start having meeting with all of the people who want to be involved in the planning. Also, the results of those meetings should be posted for all to see. I do believe we have past the point of trying to get a vote on everything by all the members of the class. I majority vote from the planning committe will be enough.

Nicole, who exactly is on the planning committee? Is there anyone else who wants to get involved?

Thanks everyone.

Just a question. How is the word getting out that a reunion is in the works other than word of mouth and on this website? I had been checking the newspapers and sometimes even the marquee at BHS since the beginning of the year to see if I heard anything about a reunion. So maybe if the word gets out to more people, that I'm sure would want to attend, then maybe more people will sign up. I know it's a little late in the game to suggest it now, but what about running an ad in the newspaper.

Hello everybody,
I just got wind of the happenings for the reunion, and guess what I am an event planner at The Founders Inn.
Nicole, what is our budget? How many people are you expecting to have? The average would be to prep for 100 ppl that is 50 students with one guest. Are wanting this to be a weekend thing or a night that we get together? Let me know your plans, I have the hook up with decorators, venues, caters, etc.
I would be happy to help. Thanks Courtney for giving me this website. I am on board with whatever the group wants to do and it is fessible for us to have a reunion this year. It is not too late!!

Yeah, Founders Inn is VERRRYYYY expensive. I honestly think that we need to have everyone get together in the next up and coming weks to try to start over with getting this reunion off to a great start. NO it is not too late, but forgive me for saying this...but I have a question..Is it because the right people are not spearheading the planning process/reunion due to lack of participation. I originally came up with the idea of having a three or two day weekend. I am willing to participate and have resources at hand for hotel planningalong with Charalese..but I am not too willing to jump in and help anymore because we are stagnant with progress.

I agree with you all that The Founders Inn is expensive, but I do have friends in the area (other hotels) that we can speak with. I need your phone number nicole or you may email me at cgore@benchmarkmanagement.com. Courtney, you have my information.

The only hurdle that I see is that we are having a hard time getting the word out. Is that the problem? or is it that we don't have a soild plan of what we want to do, so when we do get a chance to talk to some one we don't have anything to tell them?

You all know me to be very optimistic, and since I am just coming on board, I am not as frustrated as you all. We are going to make this happen. This is our first, after this, the others will be a breeze.

Our entire class knows that this is our 10 year reunion. We just have to put it in their face. Newspapers, News postings, Baysides Marquee, Classmates on the web, look in our yearbooks let's call some parents, look in superpages (phone book), etc.

Let me know your thoughts.
