Please post date range suggestions here. I know that 1995 had there's during Oct. I think that sounds pretty good.

October works, and if we all want it then we should get cracking on it now.

Does that sound good- are we gonna do a cocktail party?- Maybe we should look into renting a banquet hall- or how about doing the Spirit of Norfolk cruise- that way we wouldn't have to buy or rent every little thing- if you guys want to do a cocktail party where would be an ideal place to hold it- being that our class is pretty big- if we do the Spirit of Norfolk everyone could pay a flat fee and I am sure we could get a group discount- I am just pitching ideas out- let's hear some other thoughts

I'm cool with October. As far as where, the Spirit of Norfolk sounds like a good idea but alot depends on participation. If we have 60 people or 600 people show up. This will affect our venue and price. I guess we should plan for a near full turnout, then have a backup plan also in case we don't have that many people. The Spirit of Norfolk maxes out at 400 guests, but it seems to be pretty cheap when you break it down by person.

Another idea would be Jillian's. They can hold up to 600 I was told.

just send me an invite and i'll try and show... as much as i would love to be involved in the planning, i've got my own event that will be occupying my time this year...

just some advice: someone might want to call the school and make sure that plans aren't already in place or someone already in the process of doing so... soltner did pick our prom site for us... it would be nice if we could pick our own party this time around... but more importantly, we wouldn't want to bump heads if someone has already taken the reins.. i see 31 members to this site who btw are not all '96)... about 280 walked with us.. meaning there's at least 250 people to find... who's to say one of them hasn't already started looking..

don't act all nonchalant, Richie. you know you are as excited as anyone about this reunion. Anyways, I think that the october time frame works well. The weekend of the 21st is better for me than the weekend before. We've got a little time, but i do agree that we should check with the school for any pre existing plans. Also, cruise the reunion/classmates sites and get them all over to this one so we are on the same page.

I'm ahead of yall already...I called the school 2 days ago to find out when Homecoming weekend is scheduled (in case we want to do it that weekend). I talked with Lisa Corprew (JC's sister), and she said they won't know until May when the football schedule is released. I also asked if there were any reunion plans in the works, and as far as they were concerned, no one was aware...so the ball's in our court!!!
I also talked to my mom if we want to have it at the Va Beach Resort Hotel...she thinks that she can work something out for us...we just need a date.
I also like the idea of Spirit of Norfolk..and I agree with Neal and Lorenzo...the 21st sounds good to me (unless yall want it around Homecoming).
Okay..that's my $.02 for today!

Then we need to see if we have to add class of 97 on with us - if our class was only 280 we should find out how big the class of 97 was so maybe we can put them together - any thoughts on that??

Hi Everyone! Any date is good with me, I just need alot of notice because we are currently living in Okinawa, Japan so some planning will have to go into coming back for the reunion. Hope all is good with everyone back in Va Beach!

No...I do not agree with the adding on of class of '97. Simply because we just need to do our own thing. I work at Spirit of Norfolk along with the Hampton Inn...so I am pretty sure..no I am definite that we will be able to do a group rate with the Spirit of Norfolk. Jillian's sounds like a okay idea...but in my opinion that seems kinda cheesy; don't get me wrong..it is a allright place, but to have a 'class reunion' there, it kinda makes me reminence about my high school days...going off to the arcade with my boyfriend. We need to do something a little bit better than that. Everyone has good ideas, but we need to get these ideas in motion...next thing we know the summer will be fastly approaching us. I have one quick idea that just came to me, what about embroidered souvenir items such as t-shirts, umbrellas, etc..... We have great ideas that are flowing, what about getting a fundraiser or two started so that when it is time to go to these venues with the money and things of that sort with deposits, we won't be looking like deers caught in headlights.

More ideas are starting to flow...what do you guys think about having a reunion weekend. SImply because everyone might not be able to meet together on that one night...if we have like a group outing on that friday night...the reunion dance on that saturday night, and maybe a closing picnic or something like that on that sunday. We just have to be mindful of the people that maybe out of the country--or even out of the state, people that have to get babysitters (for the many of us like me that have kids now).

money is definitely a major factor in all this and I really don't think anyone is willing to put up more than 50-100 bucks if they have to...that's just my opinion- I will try and reach Marlene and see what she thinks or if she has any input... I agree on not having it at Jillian's-....looks like we are gonna have to rent a banquet hall- everyone seems to be agreeing on the cocktail/dance- so we should get the ball rolling on that

I have another idea. For the people that are in the area, we need to come together and form committees to get other people to be informed about the reunion and be able to participate. I first and foremost believe that we should at least call the newspaper and put ads in the Hampton Roads section and the Compass (those who are still in va beach should know what I mean). Also, we should call to the radio stations and see how we would go about shooting a blurb or two out about trying to reach the ones that we havent found yet. Then when we get all that information compiled...we could maybe do a newsletter. Honestly, to do a fly by night reuinion will not be nice..if we are gonna do this then we need to do it right. I still believe that we need to do two things, start forming committees and also once we start forming these committees for who will be doing what-start having meetings to report our progress. My mother is on the committee for her high school when they plan reunions---they even have a bank account specifically for their events such as dances, car washes, and they even have a scholarship fund set up. Once we get the kinks worked out---I have faith in the Marlins of '96...our reunion will be just fine!!

Here's my take, Courtney has a great idea on committees. I just hope that this does not become the reunion that only satisfies the few people on this forum. We need to inform as many alumn as possible about this website so that all suggestions get equal visibility before they get the green light or get shot down. Ultimately though, if we are the ones putting this thing together, we get the last say.

I didnt mean for the Spirit of Norfolk to be taken 'seriously' (if that is the correct word). I just suggested it because it was a option on the sign up page. Just because one person is objectionable to going on the S.O.N.--doesn't mean the whole class doesnt want to go.
